Introduction to Digital Video

This one-day course will cover the fundamentals of digital video, including:

• basic principles,
• filtering and sampling,
• image digitization,
• tone reproduction,
• color reproduction,
• color coding,
• component video (especially 4:2:2), and
• NTSC and PAL encoding.

This course is based on my book A Technical Introduction to Digital Video. Each registrant will receive a copy of the book. The course is directed toward people involved in engineering and maintaining digital television equipment, and people familiar with analog television who are making the transition to the digital world.

The course was held at Sony's facility on Gordon Baker Drive in Willowdale. It was organized by Boris Lawryshyn of Sony Canada.
